Little Naturalists: Story Time at Swaner
First and Third Mondays, February - May, 10 - 11 am

Join Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter for a fun program designed specifically for youth. Little Naturalists: Story Time at Swaner is for children ages 3 - 5 and will allow children and adults to learn about and explore the natural world together. On the first and third MondayLittle Naturalist Photo of each month, Swaner staff will read a nature-themed book and children will have the opportunity to participate in an activity or craft that relates to the book. All youth must be accompanied by a guardian.

Pre-registration appreciated, but not required. $2.00 per family per program, or buy a $15.00 punch card good for 8 programs (only one punch card required per family). February 6
- Under the Snow by Melissa Steward; learn how animals survive through the winter, come prepared to go outside in the snow
February 20 - Owl Moon by Jane Yolen; meet real owls in a presentation from Hogle Zoo
March 5 - The Earth and I by Frank Asch; watercoloring
March 19 - Caterpillar's Wish by Mary Elizabeth Murphy; learn about the life cycle of butterflies by observing live caterpillars and butterflies
April 2 - Salamander Room by Anne Mazer; meet real salamanders in a presentation by Kim's Cold Blooded Creatures
April 16 - I Can Save the Earth by Allison Inches; create an Earth Day craft to be displayed at our Earth Day Celebration
May 7 - Growing Frogs by Vivian French; meet live frogs and tadpoles that live on the Preserve
May 21 - Near One Cattail by Anthony Fredericks; explore a wetland, children and parents will get wet and muddy so come prepared!
