    Summer Camps 2016

     Eventbrite - Summer Camp 2018

Is your child wild about wildlife?  Do they love learning about navigating the world around them?  Do you constantly find them wanting to explore the world of design and building?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, then there’s good news:  Swaner’s camps are for you!

¿A su hijo le gustan las ciencias? ¿Y le gusta explorar al aire libre? ¿Quiere buscar ranas, realizar experimentos y hacer arte?

Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter’s educational summer camp programs will inspire and fascinate your child through week-long exploration and discovery about the natural world through STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).  Swaner offers summer camp programs for youth ENTERING kindergarten through 8th grade in Fall 2018.  You should enroll your child based on what grade they will enter in Fall 2018.

Swaner strives to keep summer camp opportunities available to anyone who is interested in participating, and works hard to keep prices affordable and provide camp tuition waivers to youth with financial need.  See below for tuition waiver information.

In addition to providing camps for K-8th, Swaner also provides leadership development opportunities for teens in 9th through 12th grades through the summer camp program.  Swaner is looking for enthusiastic, motivated, fun teens to help with camp activities.  For more information on how to become a teen camp counselor, click here.

     IMPORTANT NOTES

    • Each camp is designed for the grade level specified. Youth should be enrolled in a camp for the grade they will enter in Fall 2018.
    • Unfortunately, we are not able to allow children to move up in grade level. Children may move down in grade level (e.g. a child entering 3rd grade could attend a camp for 1st and 2nd graders), although we highly discourage this as the camps are specifically targeted for each grade's developmental abilities.
    • Youth may be enrolled in AM and PM sessions for a fully day camp experience. If you sign your child up for both the AM and PM session during a week of a camp, there will be a supervised lunch hour provided.  Please send your child with a sack lunch.
    • For information on our cancellation and refund policy, please see the section below.
    • At least one-week prior camp, you will receive an email with a parent letter, detailed agenda for the week, camper wavier, a packing list, and directions to Swaner in order to best prepare your child and yourself for an excellent week of camp!
Super Sampler   Not really sure what your favorite theme is yet or do you love it all?  Then this is the camp for you!  Campers will try out a number of different activities offered at Swaner, including adventuring in the outdoors, creating some awesome art, and conducting some explosive experiments.

    Homegrown Eats

Do you like Nature and Eating, or even eating in nature? Swaner and EATS Park City have partnered to bring you the best of both worlds. Discover things that can grow and are edible in your natural environment, then turn them into something delicious to eat. From foraging in the preserve to cooking plants native to Utah, we'll be hands-on with our wild environment and local ingredients.

    Watershed Explorers

Gear up to learn about water throughout the week.  Each day includes a field trip to a different site to learn about where our water comes from and where it’s going!  Try canoeing and paddle boarding on Jordanelle Reservoir, dawn waders and sample aquatic insects, test water quality, and visit the Great Salt Lake!  This camp includes plenty of opportunities for adventure and exploration.
Counselors in Training   This program is designed for 7th and 8th graders who are interested in making the jump from camper to counselor.  In each session you’ll learn about the skills necessary to be a leader including conflict resolution, team building, communication, and goal setting.  You’ll get the opportunity to work with younger campers and show them just how excited you are about camps at Swaner!  Each session includes a fun team building field trip on Friday, as well as group activities each day.
