Swaner Nature Preserve Hosts Weekly Nature Walks

Swaner Nature Preserve hosted its first weekly nature walk on Wednesday, June 29, 2005.SNP's Education and Land Manager guided 15 people onto the Preserve to discover the unique wetland landscape, to site many of the animals that call the Preserve home, and to learn a little about the history of Wallin Farm and Swaner Nature Preserve. Getting out onto the Preserve is a memorable and unique activity. SNP has established strict rules that no people are allowed to trespass onto the Preserve and therefore the only way to experience this protected piece of nature is to be accompanied by an SNP staff member. A few of the participants of the nature walk had been in attendance of the fourth grade wetland fieldtrips hosted in May; they said that they loved it so much that they had to bring their family members to see the wetlands. These nature walks will be available to the public, free of charge, for the remainder of the summer and are a fun and educational experience to be had by all. Nature walks are scheduled 8:30 a.m. Wednesday mornings at the Wallin Farm on SR 224. If you would like to RSVP, get directions, or to make any other inquiries, please contact the SNP office.
