Founder's Circle

The Founder’s Circle at Swaner Nature Preserve

What is it?
The Founder’s Circle is an elite club of only 100 individuals, families or corporations.  These contributors value the important work of the Swaner Nature Preserve, and want to pledge some of their resources to ensuring the realization of our world-class Nature Center.

Why should I?
Not only will you have the satisfaction of being one of the Founders of the Nature Center, and having your name or family name prominently displayed for generations to come, but being a member of the Founder’s Circle will also guarantee you exclusive access to special events at the Preserve, including an annual Founder’s Circle thank-you dinner at the Nature Center.  It also gives you an opportunity to name a significant piece of the Nature Center.

Is there a tax advantage for me?
Yes!  100% of your contribution can be counted as a charitable gift.

How much is it?
There are three levels outlined in this folder, each with corresponding benefits and naming opportunities.  The giving levels start at $25,000 and go to $100,000 and beyond.

Do I need to give all at once?
No!  Your gift can be spread out up to five years

How do I sign up?
It’s easy.  Contact us at the number below and we will work with you to make sure that your gift is appropriately recognized and can be a lasting legacy for yourself, your family or your company.

Please ask for Laura Wall or Colleen Rush at 435-649-1767 (Swaner Nature Preserve office).

Gold Founder - $50,000
Opportunity to name one of several prominent features of the
Nature Center

Rain Water Collection System: $50,000
Water conservation is an important part of the Nature Center’s vision for a sustainable building.  Runoff from the Center’s roofs and mechanical system will be collected in a cistern and then used with low flow fixtures and for landscape irrigation.  The overall effect will be to reduce of potable water usage for sewage conveyance.

Green Power: $50,000
Encourage the development and use of grid source energy technologies on a net zero pollution basis, and a 35% reduction of the building’s “regulated” electricity usage for the first ten years of operations.  Donor contributions will support the use of green power.  Our electricity will be generated from environmentally preferable renewable energy sources, such as solar, wind, geothermal, biomass, biogas and low-impact hydro.

Pav ilion: $50,000
As the entry feature to the Nature Center, the pavilion provides a brief area of refuge from the urban nature of the Newpark development.  The pavilion will be an open air, timber framed structure where one begins their journey into the Preserve.

Platinum Founder - $100,000
Opportunity to name a major feature of the Nature Center

Conference Room: $100,000
The second floor, 400 square foot conference room looks out to a broad Preserve view.  It will be the home to Board and committee meetings, and serve other community related groups.

Gift Shop/Reception/Ticketing Area: $100,000
What would a visit to a wonderful educational institution be without an opportunity to take home a memento, field guide or gift?  The gift shop and ticketing are but a few of our revenue generators, as they support our overall outreach and programming efforts.

Landscaping: $100,000
The sustainable vision for the Nature Center includes the design and usage of a100% drought-tolerant landscape.  The gardens at the perimeter of the Center will host native and adaptive plants and a low water use irrigation system.  The Nature Center is a place that bridges the gap between people and the natural world, and as such we look forward to the landscape being an educational tool to promote good ecological citizenship.

Pier Deck: $100,000
This deck is at the end of a 400 foot pier in the heart of the wetlands of the Preserve.  It is designed to host our popular star gazing programming, and other public programming.  It will feature interpretive signage about the ecology of the Preserve and eventually serve as a gateway to the future boardwalks on the Preserve.

East Deck : $100,000
The views from the east deck are framed to the north by the Pier and to the south by constructed wetlands. You will look across Spring Creek, the uplands habitat at the north edge of the Preserve and over the lower 800 acres toward historic Park City.

Photovoltaic System 12.5% - 25% of Energy Usage: $100,000
A photovoltaic system will allow the Nature Center to transforms the sun's rays into useable electrical energy.  Project goals include a photovoltaic array with a total energy output of 25% of estimated electrical use.  The 1,200 square ft. solar panel array will contribute to 3 LEED points and allow the Nature Center to move towards energy independence.  Increased support ($300,000) will allow for a 2,400 square feet solar panel array and help the team pursue an additional Innovation Design credit thru LEED.
                                                                                                                                                                                                              Permanent Exhibits: $100,000
Assist in the Swaner Nature Preserve to craft interactive and static exhibits that engage all the senses of visitors of all ages.

Additional naming opportunities:

Norwegian Outdoor Exploration Center: $250,000
Introductory displays will speak to the NOEC’s community heritage and valued addition to the SNP.  Space will include Administrative Headquarters and mentor training center, and Norwegian Adventure Space for outdoor programming.  All of these areas will support outreach and educational functions at a distance from the Preserve.

Environmental Education Classroom: $135,000
Located on the first floor, this 450 square foot area supports field trips for students, residents and visitors.

Theater/Auditorium: $750,000
The theater/auditorium is approximately 750 square feet, and has unobstructed views to the south into the Preserve.  With seating for 80, this space has been designed for the utmost in flexibility.  Retractable, cloth covered seats and retractable acoustic panel walls roll out of the way when not in use to allow the exhibit halls and theater to become one large interconnected gallery with spectacular scenery.  State-of-the-art audio visual equipment will make presentations come alive.

Entry Lobby: $125,000
The gateway to the SNP Nature Center, the lobby will be a light filled hub of activity and introduction to the wonders to the Preserve.

Innovative Heating and Cooling System: $225,000
Through the use of operable windows, and super efficient mechanical systems the Nature Center will be able to meet its goal of 40% energy use reduction.

Pier: $500,00
Boardwalks into wetlands allow the public, students, teachers, and others to see the “hidden” world of wetlands. Wetlands are of great interest to students, scientist, and the general public, but few individuals venture into them due to dense vegetation, standing water and deep organic soils.  This elevated Pier leading from the Nature Center will provide an opportunity for visitors to enter across the low grasslands into the solitude of Preserve.
