Guided Tours
Get outside with your family or friends to explore all that the Swaner Preserve has to offer. Learn about wetland science, check out local plant and animal species, and dig into the history of the Preserve with a Swaner Naturalist. These tours are great for all ages and can be tailored to the needs of your group. Tours occur on the Southside of the Preserve, which is closed to un-guided public access and usually take between 1 and 2 hours.
Guided tours of the Preserve are available to you and your crew (up to 20 people total) while practicing safe social distancing outdoors. Guests will meet their guide outside at the starting point for their chosen excursion. Pre-registration is required. Read below for tour options, pricing, and registration details.
When there is snow on the Preserve, guided tours take place on snowshoes. Snowshoe rentals are included in the price of the tour.
Guided tours are available to be scheduled Wednesday – Saturday, 8 am to 4 pm. Request a tour by completing the request form below. Once we have received your request, our staff will contact you within 2-3 business days to schedule your tour, collect payment, and answer any questions you may have. Available for all ages; children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Request Form
Tours will meet the naturalist outdoors at the starting place of their excursion. Instructions for parking and starting location will be sent to guests when their reservation is confirmed.
Restrooms may not be available on site depending upon excursion.

Tour Options
Explore the wonders of the Swaner Wetlands while making a loop from the EcoCenter to the Wetland Discovery Trail. Learn about the history of humans and the wetlands, listen for birds and animals hiding in the willows along the stream, and check out some prehistoric plants with a Swaner Naturalist.
Tall grass, uneven footing, and wet ground may be encountered. If this is a concern for your group, please mention this in your tour request or call us at 435-797-8952 to discuss your options. We can customize the tour to meet your needs.
Stroll or roll on the paved path that surrounds the south side of the Preserve with a Swaner naturalist. Use binoculars to scope out birds and wildlife, check out the view from the Swaner Kiosk, and learn about the many species and humans who have called the Preserve home. This fully accessible excursion is a fun way to fulfill your nature fix and take in the beauty of the Swaner Preserve.
This tour travels along a paved path. If your group prefers or requires even, smooth
terrain
while experiencing the wonders of the wetlands, this excursion is perfect for you!
Snowshoe Rentals
Snowshoeing is a great way to explore nature and get outside in the winter. Swaner has snowshoe options for the whole family. Take them out onto our Wetland Discovery Trail with an on-site rental or to any of the fun trails around town with an off-site rental.
Rentals are available Wednesday – Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
